Local Leaders Academy

After a successful inaugural Local Leaders Academy that started in January of 2021, we are excited to announce our offerings for 2022-23. Leadership training, networking and specific union skill development is crucial to the success of every member leader, your leadership teams and your locals.

We have developed a focused training series to develop your knowledge of Negotiations, Member Rights & Advocacy, Organizing for Action, Balance & Boundaries, and more. There will be five sessions/courses each semester, with the first session taking place at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year.

All courses happen virtually at the time listed. By emailing the trainer ahead of time, you may be allowed to watch the recorded version and still receive credit. Following each session the presentation materials and resources will be available for you to access. If all courses and assignments are completed, you will receive one credit. If you complete all courses, assignments and books studies, up to three credits may be available.

Credit Breakdown

Book studies are each 15 hours and are blog style, which includes some interaction with your peers, and a reflective piece to end the course. Each book study for this academy is one credit. The sessions themselves are also one credit. There is no charge for the book studies or taking the sessions, but you will be responsible for the cost of the books and the $50 credit themselves from University of North Dakota.
