Good day, North Dakota United!
Best wishes to you and yours as we navigate the strange days in which we find ourselves.
From what I have seen and heard from around the state, public employees have been the consummate professionals as they continue to educate our children, conduct research, educate our university students from across the country and provide the vital public services that North Dakotans depend on, especially now, in these very trying times.
I know that it is not easy. We have had to adjust to a new normal in how we do our work, care for our loved ones and live our lives. We have had to lean into our work and push ourselves to learn new methodologies that make us more effective. And we do it because if we fail, others will suffer. That is why I love public employees and why North Dakotans do, too!
Still, there is much to be concerned about. All of us know that our economy is hurting. We all know that there will be budgetary ramifications as our state and local economies struggle to regain lost footing. The final outcome is not knowable at this juncture. The federal government has rightfully moved to inject trillions of dollars into the states to help mitigate the effects of the coronavirus. The effort is unprecedented and absolutely necessary.
As this situation unfolds, please know that ND United is advocating for you every day where it matters the most. We are in almost daily contact with the Department of Public Instruction as well as with Governor Burgum’s office. We are working with other groups to help ensure that our colleagues and citizens are treated fairly throughout this emergency and beyond. In short, we are committed to you and your communities, and we will not stop working with our government and our partners to make sure you are kept as close to whole as possible.
Be well, ND United! We will get through this UNITED!
