HOW DO MINI-COURSES WORK?
Mini-Courses are short duration trainings that consist of a 2-hour webinar presentation/discussion plus a short reflection paper.
FIVE mini-course sessions plus reflection papers per session equal ONE credit.
Earn up to THREE credits through UND.
Topics and dates:
Self-Care: (1 credit) 5 sessions and reflection papers of various ways to manage fatigue, stress, expectations
January 13 – Managing COVID Fatigue Part 1
January 20 – Managing COVID Fatigue Part 2
January 27 – TBD
February 3 – The Role of the Mindful Teacher
February 10 – Yoga, Meditation, Breathing Techniques, Relaxation
Social Justice: (1 credit) 5 sessions and reflection papers dealing with various aspects of social justice
February 16 – Social Justice Overview
February 23 – Implicit Bias/Exploring Your Own Bias
March 2 – Social Justice in ND Schools/System Change
March 9 – Social Justice in Your Classroom/Lesson Plans
March 16 – Action Steps and Resources
Racial Justice: (1 credit) 5 sessions and reflection papers dealing with various aspects of racial justice
March 24 – Talking about Race
March 31 – Privilege and Intersectionality
April 7 – Microaggressions and Tone Policing
April 14 – Educational Survival and the School to Prison Pipeline
April 21 – Abolitionist Teaching
General/Reflective Practice: (1 credit) 5 sessions and reflection papers of any of the above three topics
Mini-Courses will be offered weekly from 7:00-9:00 PM via ZOOM.
Mini-course sessions will begin January 13, 2021 and run through April 21, 2021.
Self-Care and Racial Justice topics will be presented on Wednesdays.
Social Justice sessions will be presented on Tuesdays.
Register and pay an initial fee for access to the course and participate in any or all sessions.
Once you register, the ZOOM link will be emailed to you.
Participate in the ZOOM webinar.
Write a reflective paper.
For credit, participants must participate in 5 sessions (live or recorded).
1, 2, or 3 credit(s) available through UND at the cost of $50 per credit.
